Dr Alain L. Fymat, MA, MS, PhD, PhD was appointed Chairman of the Medical Scientific Committee for the 2012 World Summit: The Advancement of Science in Africa, University of Limpopo, South Africa, December 6-8, 2012.

The Summit will focus on the organization of African scientists and their colleagues in and outside Africa for the purpose of advancing science on the continent for social and economic development and improvement. The Conference will also identify where African scientists are, how much they are contributing their scientific knowledge in different fields to help Africa cope with today's challenges and opportunities provided by modern technology such as the internet and other related information communication and technologies.

The Conference will also attempt to organize and group African scientists and their colleagues according to their scientific expertise for the purpose of bringing them under one continental/global umbrella to facilitate easier communication amongst them. It will further bring them together with the goal of giving them one common voice, Such a voice would give the much needed voice in African science, discovery and development of scientific products from across the scientific board. Still further, it would provide the much needed African voice for attracting funds/investments in the scientific expertise needed to put the African continent on a par with the rest of the world in science and scientific education. In the end, Africa will have begun focusing on generating long-term economic benefits by strengthening its science and technology sectors and adjacent sectors such as drug delivery structure.

February 27:

As an international institution, and as an integral part of its activities, this Institute is particularly interested in opening and sponsoring satellite centers (Chapter) across the world. The first such center has been opened (official inauguration at a later date) in the Mediterranean Euro-Region. It is located in San Remo, Italy because of this city's geographical location at the region's epicenter. It is hoped that this is only a beginning and that other centers may likewise be inaugurated in other strategic locations throughout Europe and even in other world countries.

The center, named ForVm Mediterraneo - Espace Miramare, is this Institute's First European Platform for physicians and other medical professionals and scientists. At ForVm Mediterraneo - Espace Miramare, these individuals or groups would be able to hone their skills, exchange their views, expertise and experience. They would be able to conduct non-laboratory research and contribute to post-graduate medical education. They may be either visitors or academicians-in-residence for variable periods of time so they could for a time concentrate on their subject of highest interest. Such residencies usually result in scholarly publications and public lectures.

This Institute is also very keen on its service activities. Thus, ForVm Mediterraneo - Espace Miramare will also disseminate its activities and welcome the general public who may be interested in acquiring information about health issues or conditions of concern to them. They may also be permitted to have access to the center's specialists for a better understanding of their illnesses and information on alternative options available for diagnosis and therapy. It is also believed that ForVm Mediterraneo - Espace Miramare would be of great social and economic benefit to San Remo while adding to the prestige of this beautiful historic city.

Institute's International Director (for France and Italy) Dr. Gerard Sabbah, DDS, has been appointed the Founding President/CEO of ForVm Mediterraneo - Espace Miramare. To the launching of this project, Dr. Sabbah has dedicated a major selfless effort.
